Arthur

Arthur was a university student. This year was Arthur's last year in university. Arthur loves his university lives. He got a lot of friends. They shared everything. They always supports each other. He felt glad but he also felt sad.

Nobody knows deep within Arthur's mind, he is wondering if he took a wrong major. On the first year he felt excited with the major he took. Later on the last few years he wonder if he should take another major instead.

Arthur never talk to his parent about this problem. Until one day, he found the answer of his question.

That was last sunday afternoon. Arthur decided to take a walk at the beach. The sunset was very beautiful. The orange sky, the sparkling water, the sound of the wave. It was very peaceful. He saw an old man, maybe about 70-year old. That man is sitting peacefully on the sea sand. Something in Arthur's mind told him to sit and talk with that old man.

Arthur: Grandpa, can I sit here?

Grandpa : Of course boy, why not? So how is your day boy?

Arthur: Fine.

Grandpa: That's it? Judging from your face, looks like you had a bad day aren't you? Come on young boy, enjoy your day. Live each day to the fullest. Oh, I miss those days when I was still young. When I still have a lot of energy, chasing my dream, going out with friends and do crazy things.

Arthur: Not really grandpa. Yeah, what you said is true. I know that we had to live each day to the fullest. But, I have something in my mind that always bother me.

Grandpa: Ohh.. What is it my boy?

Arthur: Actually, you're the first person I'm going to talk about this problem.

Grandpa: Okay, go on..

Arthur: Grandpa, I'm in the last year of my university lives. It was really fun. I got wonderful friends that always there to support me. But, lately I think if I took a wrong major. I think I'm not suited to this major. Okay at first I love this major but in the end, I felt like this major isn't really the best major for me. This problem always wandering in my head.

Grandpa: Hahaha.. Believe it or not boy, I also experienced that kind of thing when I'm still in university.

Arthur: Really?

Grandpa: Yeah. I took the Law major instead of Business major. At first I really want to be a lawyer. But later on my life, I thinkbeing business man is more suited for me. But I glad that I took the wrong major.

Arthur: You glad because you took a wrong major? That's kinda weird. Why Grandpa?

Grandpa: Boy, if you can turn back time, would you take the other major instead of your current major?

Arthur: Of course Grandpa. I would take the other major. Why you even asked a question like that. Everyone wants an ability to turn back time.

Grandpa: That's not true boy. If you asked me that question, my answer is "No".

Arthur : Why grandpa ?

Grandpa: Why? Well it's a long story but i'll try to make it short. My university lives is the best memory i ever had. I found my best friend there who later became my foster family. I Love them. Until now i still keeps contact with them. That period of time, I've experienced all kind of human emotions. Happiness, Sadness,Pain, Anger, Sorrow, Love, Hate, and..... what's the other? I forgot. Sigh, Ah forget it... That moment of time played a big role in my life. It changed me to a better person. If I take the other major instead, I don't think I can be the one like now. I will not exchange these memories with everything in this world.

Arthur: You're lucky to had a beautiful university lives like that. And me?? Sigh...... The other major I want to take is also business major. I want to be a entrepreneur.

Grandpa: Boy, don't be so down. Listen, The best major for entrepreneurship is whatever you want to study most. That would be literature or fine arts if that's what you love. Education comes first, then business. Study what you want and then let the career follow; don't study what you think makes a better career. People change careers three times in an average life, but you get to do education only once.

Arthur: *Amazed with old man words. Not saying a word*

Grandpa: Do you know, We only regret what we haven't done. I don't regret what I've done – it's part of growing up. Boy, you can do what you want, be what you want, if you put your mind into it.

Arthur: Wow... What you've said amazed me grandpa. I'm happy to sit right here and have a talk with you. Actually it's one of the best night in my lives. Thank you Grandpa.

Grandpa: No problem boy. It's a common youngster problem. Thank you for accompanying me enjoying this beautiful sunset. It's a beautiful day. It's dinner time, you better hurry. Don't make your mother worry.

*Arthur stand up and looking at the old man*.

Arthur: Thank you for your advice grandpa. I'll go now.

Arthur walked about 5 meters and turned his head back.

Arthur: Hey Grandpa, why are you sitting right here all alone ?

Grandpa: *Smilling and looking at Arthur* I don't know boy. Something in my mind told me to go to the beach. It's the first sunset since the last 5 year.

Arthur smilling and continue walking home. Right now he felt he is a different person. Right now he know the answer of his question.
